Welcome to Reminiscent City an evocative exhibition by Danish painter Søren Arildsen, that invites you to embark on a journey through the richly imagined landscapes of memory and imagination. Each painting is a poetic exploration of the ways in which the past shapes our present and how our recollection of the past is continually reworked by the present. Vibrant porcelain frames surround the paintings. The delicate and intricate details of these frames reflect the fragility and beauty of the memories they represent, and add a unique dimension of depth and texture to the viewing experience.
For example, in "Domina" the vivid colours and expressive brushstrokes convey a sense of power and authority and intimacy that is both arresting and enigmatic. In "Boy at the End of Bed," the use of light and shadow creates a sense of intimacy and vulnerability, as if the viewer has stumbled upon a private moment. "Courtyard Dinner" is a stunning portrayal of a moment of conviviality and joy, with the lush greens and soft hues of orange evoking a sense of serenity and peace. "Dogpark Romance" captures the playful and endearing energy of our animal companions, while also exploring the complex emotions and relationships that shape our lives.
We invite you to experience Reminiscent City for yourself, to lose yourself in the intricate worlds of memory and imagination that these works evoke. Each painting is a unique portal into a world of beauty and complexity of memories that stay with you and linger on your mind. the diversity of subjects, texture and techniques brings a unique aesthetic dimension that must be seen to be fully appreciated.
